Video Diaries was a BBC television programme produced by the Community Programme Unit. The series of programmes was created in 1990 by producer Jeremy Gibson. The programme's production team offered members of the public basic video training and ongoing support. The diarist was then left to gather their material with a camcorder. They would then have further support in editing and post-production During 1991 - 1992 Bob Long was a producer. By 1993 the programmes was developed into the Video Nation project.
Zoo Diaries is a Canadian documentary television series airing on Life Network. The series documents the live of animals and people at a zoo with a record of breeding endangered species. 74 episodes have been produced since 2000 by DocuTainment Productions. Each episode opens with a brief description of the show's contents. Events in the life of three or four animals are shown, cutting between stories every couple of minutes. Each story focuses on an animal in an interesting situation, and the zoo person responsible for handling the situation. Some situations are resolved over a number of episodes, for example, developing and performing an animal show designed to startle the audience. Topics vary from birth to death. The series is candid about the zoo employees' behavior and opinions. It is filmed at the Toronto Zoo in Toronto, Ontario and narrated by Vince Corazza. Episodes 1-37 are available on DVD.
Ice Diaries is a show on the TLC network that follows four up-and-coming American figure skaters through the 2005/2006 Olympic season as each tries to make the 2006 Olympic team. The four skaters are Beatrisa "Bebe" Liang, Alissa Czisny, Danielle Kahle, and Sandra Rucker. Rucker did not make it out of Regionals, the first step for qualifying for the United States Figure Skating Championships. Kahle won both her Regionals and Sectionals and placed twelfth at Nationals. Czisny placed second at Skate America and won Skate Canada International, but finish in last place at the Grand Prix Final and had two bad skates at Nationals and finished seventh. Liang came in fourth at Skate America and finished fifth at Nationals, the highest placement of the four skaters. After Rucker's season ended before the series did, the show profiled Jennifer Kirk and her decision to quit competitive skating the year before an Olympic year. None of the profiled skaters made the Olympic team.
